Capgemini has opened a centre of excellence in Melbourne, where it will develop solutions for its global line dedicated to smart energies. The IT services company will also showcase and present the latest technology advancements in this area to local energy and utility companies. Capgemini hopes this will boost sales in the Energy and Utilities sector, which represented 11% of group revenue in 2010.
To show local Energy and Utilities organisations the benefits of smart metering, smart grid and smart home, Capgemini will in particular be working with its partners from the Smart Energy Alliance. This alliance features Capgemini, Cisco, GE, HP, Intel and Oracle. It was set up in 2006 to help utilities transform their transmission and distribution operations.
