After the recent launches of PaaS and unified communications cloud-based services, AT&T has now further strengthened its portfolio of cloud offers. Synaptic Compute as a Service combines the carrier’s VPN technology with VMware’s cloud-based services.
AT&T is targeting VMware’s 350,000 customers that currently use vCloud Datacenter and who wish to extend their private clouds across and into AT&T’s network-based cloud, to enjoy greater speeds and storage capacity. AT&T is calling this offer “Virtual Private Cloud”, as it enables companies to switch their cloud requirements between a virtual cloud and a public cloud using a VPN link.
Synaptic Compute as a Service can be accessed now in the United States and will be available worldwide by the end of 2012.
