Sofrecom Tunisia Stands Out in the Tunisian Job Market

Innovation is essential to stand out from local competitors and to achieve our goal of making the Tunis service center a center of excellence.
Thanks to its innovative approach, Sofrecom Tunisia is now among the top companies in its sector, preferred by both engineers and students, and is firmly establishing itself in the job market.

Innovation: A Strategic Imperative

Innovation, disruption, intrapreneurship… these have undoubtedly been the trendiest buzzwords in the corporate world lately. Beyond their marketing appeal, they truly reflect a desire for renewal and fresh vision.
Innovating while respecting business imperatives and cost control can sometimes be a tough equation to solve.

Sofrecom Tunisia reached 500 employees in 2017 after only six years of existence. This rapid growth prompted us to rethink our approach to company management. The evolution is not just technological — its challenges go beyond R&D and marketing. Our initiatives must involve all employees and affect every level of the company. From this realization, two simple ideas emerged: promote collaboration and break down silos.

We have undertaken three major actions in this regard:

  • Promoting innovation among students and schools
  • Launching internal innovation initiatives
  • Implementing Orange Group’s Oz program

The momentum began with the sharing of Sofrecom’s expertise with students, focusing on trending technologies like Big Data and IoT. We encouraged our employees to lead workshops and roundtables at engineering schools both in the capital and in regional areas. This new approach to academia-business relations became a powerful driver, leading to concrete partnerships on tech topics. Sofrecom Tunisia signed 11 agreements with engineering schools and secured seats on the scientific boards of top local universities.

A Culture of Innovation to Attract and Retain Talent

It’s now well established that a corporate culture focused on innovation is essential for talent retention and attractiveness. Internally, the idea of holding periodic challenges bringing together engineers and developers from all business units gave birth to an internal hackathon.
Its goal: stimulate creative thinking and foster the technical growth of our developers in a fun, competitive environment.

Over one weekend, around twenty employees developed four internal-use applications and pitched their ideas to an experienced jury.

Beyond the competition itself, these moments of collaborative sharing and brainstorming are key to driving innovation within the company. To support this vision and create a tradition of innovation, a dedicated space was set up: a brainstorming room, a code room, and a lab. These are open to all and allow dozens of engineers to meet every week to build dreams and projects together.

At Sofrecom Tunisia, we aim to broaden perspectives and multiply opportunities. That’s why we quickly embraced Orange Group’s Oz program.
A wide internal communication campaign encouraged our employees to share their ideas on Sofrecom’s idea wall. Oz is a true platform of expression for the most inventive minds among us, supported in Tunis by the Innovation & Technology department, which acts as both a promoter and catalyst of innovation-driven topics.
