Challenge: Flash IT Audit for a Convergent Multi-Play RFP
While Sofrecom was already leading and managing an IT transformation request for proposal (RFP), our client — a leading fixed telecom operator in its country in Asia — acquired a competing mobile operator.
It quickly became essential to modify the RFP to request offers for a convergent information system capable of managing multi-play services: fixed, mobile, and internet. As a result, our client asked our consultants to perform a rapid assessment of the newly acquired company’s information system to identify the changes required in the RFP specifications.
Methodology: Accelerated Assessment of the Mobile Operator’s IT System
To act quickly, Sofrecom set up a dual team: local experts on-site and a back-office team in France.
The mission began with understanding the structure and operation of the acquired company’s IT system. Our experts gathered documentation, visited retail stores, and conducted 24 workshops with IT and business teams. This allowed them to gain a very detailed understanding of the business goals and IT needs of the acquired operator. They identified pain points, translated them into functional requirements, and then into IT specifications.
They also compared the IT system requirements of both companies to the existing RFP specs.
Following this, they drafted a comprehensive assessment report with key findings. Based on this report, they updated the RFP documentation, informed bidders, and addressed over 100 follow-up questions. In total, our consultants issued 9 amendments.
Results: A Multi-Service IT RFP Finalized in 3 Weeks Thanks to Sofrecom
Thanks to the expertise of Sofrecom's consultants in fixed and mobile operator information systems, the entire project was completed in just three weeks at the client’s premises. The client received qualified proposals for a convergent IT system within record time, allowing them to finalize the RFP as originally planned.
