Sofrecom Morocco signs agreement to launch an IT development training center to build skilled developers for the offshoring secto

Committed to employment in Morocco, Sofrecom Maroc has signed an agreement with the Ministry, the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, and the Agence Nationale de Promotion de l'Emploi et des Compétences to create, in partnership with 4 other digital services companies, an IT development training centre at Casanearshore to significantly increase the supply of qualified developers.

A convention in Morocco to train local IT talent

Driven by a growing IT offshoring sector, Morocco's digital services companies employ more than 10,000 IT developers, with staff numbers growing by around 15% a year.

Fully in line with this growth dynamic, Sofrecom Services Maroc now has almost 500 employees and is aiming for 1,000 by 2020, the vast majority of whom are IT developers qualified to meet the needs of Sofrecom's customers.

This need gave rise to the idea of creating an IT development training centre to significantly increase the supply of qualified developers.

Objectives: Employability, skills development, and meeting industry needs

This training centre will aim to:

  • To improve the employability and professional integration of IT graduates in Morocco through further training leading to qualifications and certification;
  • Boost the growth momentum and upmarket positioning of the IT offshoring sector in Morocco;
  • Develop a "bootcamp" type teaching model specialising in IT development training and adapted to the Moroccan context;
  • Roll out the teaching model developed to other companies and educational establishments.
  • Improve the match between training and jobs for this IT development profile

It will provide a fast-track training course lasting around six months, based on a "bootcamp" teaching model involving intensive teaching, a project-based learning method and skills certification.

The training will cover the critical skills valued by the partner companies, including technical, behavioural, methodological and communication skills. The training will be provided by an international provider with proven experience in this field. If necessary, and project conditions permitting, a national training provider may also be called upon.

As a partner company, Sofrecom Services Maroc will be heavily involved in the design, implementation and evaluation of the training provided. In particular, it will contribute to the definition of content, the selection of service providers, the monitoring of the project and the professional integration of candidates.

A Strategic Location at Casanearshore

The pilot training centre will be located in MEDZ's Casanearshore offshoring zone, to ensure proximity to partner companies.

Initially, the project will be carried out in two phases:

  • Pilot phase: The first phase of the project will consist of carrying out a pilot experiment with 50 students to test the pedagogical performance of the "bootcamp" model and set up a model for collaboration between the stakeholders. At the end of the pilot phase, an evaluation will be carried out to assess the impact of the training on learning, employability and professional integration
  • Deployment phase: On the basis of the evaluation of the pilot phase, the stakeholders will take a decision regarding the development of this "bootcamp" model on a larger scale.

With this new agreement, Sofrecom Services Maroc is once again reaffirming its commitment to the employability of young people in Morocco. This project joins the many initiatives set up with the academic world, particularly engineering schools, to support students and facilitate their access to the business world.
