Challenge: Validation and Implementation of Innovative Nokia 4G Features
As part of its mobile access network modernization project and in preparation for the future launch of 5G, Orange France aimed to test innovative new 4G features (256QAM Downlink, 64QAM Uplink, 4x4 MIMO, 2/3/4 carrier aggregation, etc.) to significantly boost speeds and, consequently, enhance the customer experience.
Orange entrusted the Nokia RAN validation team at Sofrecom with the crucial first step of laboratory validation of these new 4G functionalities.
Methodology: Laboratory Validation of Nokia Features by Sofrecom’s RAN Experts
Our consultants worked closely with the vendor Nokia to test and validate in the lab the correct operation of the radio configurations and features required to meet Orange France’s objectives.
Our experts managed the project under a tight schedule and successfully handled unexpected challenges to meet the planned delivery date.
Results: Multiplying Speeds and Technical Success Thanks to Sofrecom’s Radio Expertise
As these features had never been tested by Orange before, Sofrecom’s specific radio expertise was a key factor in the success of the project.
Following lab testing, the features were deployed across a cluster of 13 radio sites in a city of 80,000 inhabitants in France.
This project demonstrated the performance gains brought by these new features and enabled Orange to highlight its capacity for technological innovation. The maximum speeds achieved were 2 to 3 times higher than existing rates.
