Sofrecom: 50 years of transformation and innovation
Sofrecom, a subsidiary of the Orange Group and an international consulting and engineering firm specialized in telecoms, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016. For five decades, Sofrecom has supported operators, governments, and regulators worldwide in their transformation and innovation efforts.
This historic anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year in countries where Sofrecom operates (1), with the presence of Orange Group executives, French officials, and representatives from ministries and institutions of host countries. The kickoff event takes place this Wednesday, March 30 in Tunis, marking half a century of agility in delivering Orange innovations across networks and their usage ecosystems.
This first celebration underlines the strategic importance of Tunisia for the Orange Group, which has made Africa and the Middle East a key focus of its "Essentials 2020" Strategic Plan and intends to continue contributing to Tunisia’s economic development through its subsidiaries, Sofrecom Tunisia and Orange Tunisia, the country’s leading alternative convergent operator with over 3 million customers.
A conference on offshore and digitalization
The ceremony included a conference on the challenges of Offshore and Digitalization, under the patronage of Mr. Noomane Fehri, Minister of Communication Technologies and the Digital Economy, and Mr. Zied Ladhari, Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, with the attendance of:
Mr. Raouf Mhenni, President of Smart Tunisia,
Mr. François Gouyette, French Ambassador to Tunisia,
Mr. Marc Rennard, Deputy CEO in charge of Customer Experience and Mobile Financial Services, Orange Group,
Mr. Jacques Moulin, CEO of Sofrecom Group,
Ms. Siwar Farhat, Managing Director of Sofrecom Tunisia,
Mr. Didier Charvet, CEO of Orange Tunisia.
The various speakers emphasized Sofrecom’s ability to support its clients in their digital transformation and its commitment to the success of the national strategic plan "Digital Tunisia 2018", both in terms of expertise and job creation, with its subsidiary Sofrecom Tunisia continuing to grow and hire young graduates.
Sofrecom Tunisia to create 200 new jobs by 2017
Sofrecom Tunisia, the fifth Sofrecom site in the North Africa and Middle East region (after Algeria, Morocco, the UAE, and Qatar), regularly offers highly qualified positions. It leverages Tunisia’s exceptional talent pool, thanks to the high quality of education provided by major schools and universities. Sofrecom Tunisia has established partnerships with several of these institutions to facilitate certification and employment of young professionals.
Currently employing 300 people, mostly engineers specialized in IT and telecoms, Sofrecom Tunisia plans to create 200 additional jobs by 2017. It has already exceeded its job creation commitments and was the first foreign company to sign the Smart Tunisia agreement in April 2015. This demonstrates its dedication to providing qualified employment opportunities for Tunisian university graduates. It also received a FIPA Award in June 2015 and was recognized as the "most dynamic company in its sector."
Its goals align with Tunisia’s broader plan to create 50,000 jobs in the offshoring sector and 100,000 jobs in e-government by 2020.
Sofrecom Group, a partner in digital transformation
Sofrecom Tunisia aims to become a leading nearshore center in the Tunisian market and contribute its expertise to key digitalization projects such as e-government, e-health, e-education, and e-banking.
It draws on Sofrecom and Orange’s expertise in digital innovation and leverages Sofrecom’s successful projects. These include implementing e-government programs, such as the design and implementation of IT master plans in Morocco or the digitalization of administrative processes. Sofrecom has also developed a specific approach to Change Management and Capacity Building to support the digital transformation of historical operators in the Middle East and Asia.
In terms of customer experience, Sofrecom contributed to the deployment of a unified Customer Experience Management (CXM) solution across all Orange AMEA subsidiaries. Additionally, Sofrecom played a key role in the successful rollout of Orange’s mobile financial services.
