Challenge: Deployment and replication of Big Data projects in Africa and the Middle East

To facilitate the implementation of Big Data projects in its subsidiaries across Africa and the Middle East, while prioritizing replication opportunities, this multinational operator asked Sofrecom to support its subsidiaries both in project deployment and in adoption by business teams.

Methodology: Technical and functional support, and capitalization of use cases

Our consultant structured the project in two parts. First, they provided end-to-end technical and functional support for the tenders: drafting the specifications, participating in supplier evaluations, and monitoring projects on a weekly basis to identify and facilitate the replication of use cases and capitalize on interface contracts. By being directly involved in operational phases, they gained insight into the challenges encountered (sizing, operations, change management, etc.) and were able to share feedback with all of the client’s subsidiaries.

In the second phase, based on the initial Big Data projects in the region and their documentation, our expert proposed an initial version of a “data dictionary” for the subsidiaries’ business teams, particularly marketing. This document will be progressively enriched based on major use cases.

Result: Big Data solutions deployed and data dictionary for business-IT alignment

Thanks to this project, the subsidiaries successfully launched and completed the deployment of their Big Data solutions. By leveraging the experience of other subsidiaries, they were able to avoid pitfalls and accelerate implementation. The data dictionary provides business teams with a single reference point, improving communication with IT teams, preventing misunderstandings, and ensuring that Big Data developments align with business needs.
