Challenge: Integrating a convergent IT system after acquiring a mobile operator

Our client, a leading telecommunications operator in fixed-line services and the country’s top internet service provider, recently acquired a mobile operator, enabling them to become a convergent fixed, mobile, and internet operator. This acquisition took place shortly after the publication of a request for proposal (RFP) — for which Sofrecom had provided its expertise — aimed at renewing the operator’s information system. Following this collaboration, our client asked us to assess the information system of the newly acquired mobile operator. Our experts had only four weeks to successfully complete this mission.

Methodology: Agile audit and RFP adaptation in 4 weeks

Our mission was to gain a detailed understanding of the mobile operator’s information system and adjust the ongoing RFP accordingly. To achieve this, our experts:

  • Identified the main business pain points and translated them into functional requirements
  • Identified potential gaps between the mobile IT system’s requirements and those already published in the RFP
  • Updated the RFP documentation to obtain proposals for a convergent information system capable of managing customers and multi-play offers: fixed, mobile, and internet. They also responded to numerous bidder questions regarding the mobile IT system
  • Produced an evaluation report summarizing the key findings

Result: A convergent fixed-mobile-internet IT system delivered on time and optimized

Within four weeks, and using an agile methodology, we delivered a comprehensive report on the state of the mobile operator’s information system. This allowed our client not only to update the RFP with mobile-related requirements but also to save costs by reusing parts of the existing mobile IT system. Thanks to this mission, the client was able to receive bidders’ proposals for a convergent IT system in record time and finalize the RFP as originally planned.
