Challenge: Modernization and Optimization of a 4G Mobile Access Network with Advanced Features

A mobile operator enlisted Sofrecom’s expertise to modernize its 4G network and anticipate technological advancements. The goal: to integrate advanced features such as 256QAM Downlink, 64QAM Uplink, 4x4 MIMO, and 2/3/4 carrier aggregation to significantly increase data rates and enhance customer experience.

Methodology: Technical Validation and Collaboration with Nokia on Innovative Radio Configurations

Sofrecom led the first phase of validating these new features, working closely with Nokia to test and confirm the performance of the necessary radio configurations. This critical step ensured the solutions’ reliability and efficiency before large-scale deployment.

Result: Multipled 4G Speeds and Local Leadership in Network Performance

Tests conducted on a cluster of 13 radio sites showed remarkable improvements, with peak data rates multiplied by 2 to 3. The pilot city is now the location offering the highest 4G speeds in France, strengthening the operator’s competitive positioning.
