The Israeli company Worklight, created in 2006, is specialised in the development of mobile apps. It has, in particular, invested in HTML5 technology that can be used to deploy applications easily to multiple handsets and mobile OSs.
The takeover of its partner Worklight will enable IBM to enhance its enterprise mobile portfolio. The Worklight Studio environment supplements the US giant’s mobile app development solutions. The Israeli company also provides IBM with Worklight Server, a gateway dedicated to integration in the IT systems of enterprises, and Worklight Console, a mobile device management platform.
Meanwhile, Big Blue has unveiled a new version of Endpoint Manager for Mobile Devices. This new software system enables users to manage and secure their business and personal mobile devices (PCs, smartphones, tablets and sales outlet equipment). Endpoint Manager can be used to delete enterprise data if a device is lost or stolen. Security is also provided through the use of passwords, encryption and a VPN.
