Following the agreement reached between the two operators, AT&T will be able to extend the coverage of its IP-VPN services in China, supported by the Chinese operator’s network. Reciprocally, China Telecom will have access to the American company’s MPLS-based IP network in the United States.
AT&T and China Telecom also intend to develop a range of advanced services together, such as telepresence and managed hosting, as well as enterprise mobility solutions.
To support the development of multinationals in both countries, the two operators also plan to offer shared support services and to sign bilateral agreements to provide roaming Wi-Fi capabilities.
The agreement reached between the two operators builds on their existing relationship, which had already been cemented in the form of the joint venture, Shanghai Symphony Telecommunications, created in 2000.
